STATISTICS IN THE REAL ESTATE INDUSTRY

The real estate industry faces significant representation disparities, notably among people of color. African Americans represent less than 3.5 percent of real estate professionals, Hispanics make up 8.79 percent, while Asian and Native American professionals occupy even smaller percentages, further emphasizing the industry's diversity gap compared to the 74.6 percent representation by White professionals.

This underrepresentation underscores the pressing need for a more diverse and inclusive industry that mirrors the demographics of the nation and addresses the needs of a varied clientele. The homeownership rate starkly illustrates this divide, with African Americans at a historic low of 40.6 percent, significantly lower than the 73.1 percent for non-Hispanic White Americans, highlighting a substantial wealth and equity gap. Including Asians and Native Americans in these statistics paints a broader picture of the disparities that exist and the importance of bolstering representation across all people of color to support the industry's future and ensure it equitably serves all communities.
